apsolut team takes part in the SAP Connect Hackathon in Düsseldorf

After 48 hours the eyes were tired, but the euphoria still unbroken. "We really didn't get much sleep, but the mood is excellent," grins Timo Zapatka, Consultant and Developer at apsolut. Together with his colleagues Christian Loof, Gabriel Schroeder and Frank Köppert, he has just completed the Hackathon that took place as part of SAP Connect 2018.

The task was to develop a prototype for a mobile application with a gamification character that would promote networking before, during and after events based on the personal preferences of the individual participants. "The algorithm that ultimately leads to people with similar interests finding each other is at the heart of the app," explains Frank Köppert, Manager at apsolut. "In addition to the purely technical functionality [note: The use of the SAP iOS SDK and two SAP Machine Learning APIs was predefined], the user experience must of course not be lost sight of: without intuitive usability and a portion of fun while surfing, an app is not practical."

For Jürgen West, who is responsible for the development department at apsolut's Management Board, the fact that it was not enough to win first place but in the end it is not a foregone conclusion. "Our team has become much richer in experience and has had a lot of fun. For our work - and for the next Hackathon - we have created excellent new foundations. For today, I'm just damn proud of our fantastic four!"
